Research and Development

Introduction of low nitrogen technology

The WALAM low nitrogen burner is developed over many years, combining years of practical experience. This series of burners combines the following four ultra-low nitrogen technologies:

  • Staged combustion of air and fuel
  • Partial premixing technology
  • Internal flue gas circulation
  • Auxiliary system of external flue gas circulation

WALAM avoids central flame zone by fuel grading and air grading. Staged combustion divides the combustion chamber into fuel-rich combustion and lean combustion zone which can lower the maximum temperature of flame. The first combustion (lean burn) will further cool the second combustion temperature. This technology can reduce 30-50% NOx emissions to approximately 60-80mg/Nm3. The following is a schematic of the fuel classification.

Through years of research and development , WALAM combines premixing technology with staged combustion and flue gas recycling. This technology reduces the amount of time NOx and also improves flame stability. Partial premixing technology combines premixing time nitrogen oxides to improve combustion rates. WALAM uses flue gas recirculation and proper premixing to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.

Through the diffusion disk design of the combustion head, this burner has the function of internal circulation of smoke which makes full use of the mixing function of the cyclone and also increases the function of inner loop. The flue gas inner circulation is designed to be about 10-15%.

  • Internal flue gas circulation

Flue gas recirculation mixes flue gas and air for secondary combustion. Flue gas is a very suitable choice for cooling the flame because it has a low oxygen content and gases that do not participate in the combustion, including nitrogen, water vapor, and nitrogen dioxide. These gases have very high endothermic parameters. This reduces overall flame temperature and reduces NOx emissions. Flue gas recirculation reduces emissions by 80%.

  • Auxiliary system of external flue gas circulation

The WALAM burner structure has an automatic ignition, flame monitoring, and fire observation hole. Both the igniter and the fire monitor can be pulled out for easy maintenance.

Simulation and calculation

The overall design of the burner is supported by computer simulation program and actual data. In order to achieve stable low nitrogen operation, the advantages of the WALAM burner flue gas system include:

  • Calculation and balance of air box and duct pressure loss
  • Computer simulation of mixing of flue gas and air

Operating adjustment system

  • Fuel / air control ratio
  • Control 3-4 servo motors
  • External load control
  • Fuel flow statistics software
  • Flame ultraviolet (infrared) self-test management
  • Gas valve leak detection
  • Real-time monitoring of air box pressure

This feature provides the most complete adjustment control for operation of burner.
These include setting of boiler operating program, setting of boiler safety interlock system and position parameters of each actuator.
It adopts chip control to make the wind and gas (oil) ratio of burner system be digitally quantified, with an accuracy of 0.1°, which determines the unique certainty of the system during combustion, and the system ampling method at every 10~15 seconds can guarantee the stability of feedback data.Through this function, the operator and manager can intuitively understand the boiler's operating conditions, such as pressure parameters, operating position, and sequence of faults. All actuators are displayed digitally and confirmed. Compared with the previous mechanical cooperation, the precision is greatly improved, and the stability has a qualitative leap, which can ensure the long-term safe, stable and high-efficiency operation of the equipment.

Safety interlock and display

The Siemens system can perform real-time automatic monitoring of the safety interlocking device of combustion unit, such as wind pressure detection, flame ultraviolet sensitization, gas pressure detection, gas leak detection, external condition mismatch detection, and internal condition mismatch detection.
Safety interlocks, sensors and monitoring signals are directly connected to the burner management unit; servo motors, valves and frequency converters are directly controlled.
The control part has an easy-to-understand simple operation interface, which can monitor and make a correct judgment on a series of states before, during, and after operation.

Boiler group control function

Each M.M. unit also integrates boiler group control function, which can control the collection of all boilers in the entire boiler room to better adapt to changes in external loads.

  • The system will automatically determine the load of the hot water boiler or steam boiler
  • Users is allowed to adjust
  • Valves and pumps in system can be automatically controlled by the system

Technical Support

Cooperation and joint research

Design of WALAM burner adheres to the cooperation with boiler plant to collect post-operation data and management experience from end users. The WALAM WEG low-nitrogen burner and the burner of power station boiler have also been developed in cooperation for a long time. So the WALAM team can ensure that the stability of the furnace size in each boiler is stable and the data is ideal to avoid large amounts of carbon monoxide, excessive NOx emissions, frequent failure rates, or resonances.

Burner and boiler matching design

The formation of nitrogen oxides is directly related to the maximum combustion temperature, furnace size, furnace heat transfer parameters. It also has a certain influence on the heat absorption and heat reflection materials in boiler. We have close communication and cooperation with internationally renowned boiler companies, ensuring that each burner is perfectly integrated with the boiler body, the control technology is closely linked, and the after-sales service is in place for users 'satisfaction , while easily achieving environmental protection and energy saving effect.

Comprehensive data support

The WALAM burner is a WEG low-nitrogen oil -fueled gas burner that fully operates the technical data within the full range of load changes of boiler, and will not cause unsatisfactory dead data in actual use. The burner program control uses the proven Siemens electronic tuning, which meets the full scale adjustment requirements of the burner.

Fast technical response

The WALAM technical team has service points in major cities in China, which can quickly carry out after-sales maintenance and repair. It has deep cooperation with many boiler manufacturers. The furnace size and burner are already integrated design, and the assembly and commissioning process of the field installation is simple and convenient.
